Kylie Sams is a contemporary artist, with a passion for the abstract.

Her paintings are energetic and expressive, capturing raw emotion and movement on canvas. Guided by intuition and shaped by the emotional landscapes of life, her paintings are rich in layered colour and feeling, with expressive mark-making at their core. The result is gestural, multi-layered work that speaks to vulnerability, freedom, and the complexity of human experience.

A lifelong creative, Kylie brings a strong design sensibility to her work, along with an openness to discovery. While her focus is on pure abstraction, Kylie occasionally explores abstract landscapes and botanical themes, allowing these elements to emerge organically through her process. Kylie works predominantly in acrylics and mixed media and has a particular love for working on large scale canvases.

Rooted in exploration, Kylie’s art practise is ever imaginative and experimental, often shifting through different techniques and materials to push creative boundaries and keep the process alive and evolving. She finds liberation in abstraction and embraces the unknown as a vital part of her creative process. This approach results in work that is both raw and honest.

“My hope is that my work evokes a sense of deep connection in others - whether through inspiration, reflection, or enquiry.”

Kylie was born and raised in the Hunter Valley, NSW, and now lives and works in the Hawkesbury region, on the outskirts of Sydney, Australia.

Her work is held in private collections across Australia and internationally.
